On November 16, a major event dedicated to the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP29) was held in the unique resort city of Sea Breeze, in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Operating Company. The event’s central themes were the creation of a “green city” and the opening of a pomegranate boulevard, which will become the symbolic legacy of this conference. The SeaBreezeLife.az editorial team attended the event and prepared a special report for its readers.
The event was attended by Sea Breeze founder Emin Agalarov, Scott Brownrigg architectural bureau head Darren Comber, the Sea Breeze Landscape department team, and COP29 conference participants.
In his speech, Emin Agalarov spoke about Sea Breeze’s mission to develop as an environmentally friendly city. Over the years, more than 10 million trees and shrubs have been planted, including pines, palms, cypresses, lavender, and many other plants adapted to the Caspian’s challenging climate conditions. Emin noted that the team’s efforts have not only created a green environment but also attracted wildlife to the region: populations of squirrels, birds, and even foxes are actively growing.
The Sea Breeze Landscape Department, collaborating with landscape designer John Calvin Wiedemann, is implementing unique landscaping projects. By 2025, they plan to plant another 5 million trees, making Sea Breeze one of the world’s largest environmental projects.
Darren Comber presented urban projects that align with global eco-friendly construction trends, including the use of recycled energy, implementation of sustainable technologies, and development of modern eco-culture.
A special moment was the opening of the pomegranate boulevard. The first trees were planted by Leyla Aliyeva, Emin Agalarov, and Ali Agalarov. Event guests, including COP29 representatives, also participated in planting 100 pomegranate trees brought from Goychay. These hardy trees, resistant to winds and saline soils, may bear their first fruits next year, and their GPS tags will allow participants to track their trees’ growth.
Artists Vusal Najafzade and Arzu Muradova organized workshops, adding a creative atmosphere, along with an art exhibition featuring works by Kyamala Musayeva, Emin Seyidov, and Tahmina Ali.
The event at Sea Breeze once again proved that this project is not just about luxury but about a future where nature, innovation, and culture coexist harmoniously. Follow the news on SeaBreezeLife.az – we’re always close to the main events of the Caspian region!
